Resource Centre
To ensure this site remains up-to-date, we have restricted all external resources
to this section. As new resources are identified, they will be listed here. It's
important to remember that the resources here only represent those which we are currently
aware of and consider to be of value to a small business. Should you discover any
resources you also feel could be of value to a small business, we encourage you to
notify
us of their existence.
Free Web Space
The following two sites provide excellent examples of the free web space currently
on offer. There are hundreds of others and with time we will look at evaluating more.
However, at this early stage these sites provide a better idea of what resources
you can access for free.
Australian
American
For those of you who would like to look at other potential Free Web space providers,
the following site will provide all you need.

Free Email Service
At this early stage, we'd suggest that both Yahoo
and Hotmail provide suitable email facilities. We do
anticipate setting up our own email service based around the Biz-Au
site, but for now either Yahoo or Hotmail will do.
Custom Web Addresses
To ensure that all small businesses have access to a stable, portable and professional
looking web address, we have set up a facility around the Biz-Au site.
This allows a web address such as http://www.website.com/users/smallbusiness/JoesShop.html
to become http://www.joesshop.biz-au.com or http://www.JoesShop.biz-au.com. The section
under Get
A Web Address explains the
benefits of using a shorter web address.
Web Site Publishers
Database
The Web Site Publishers database
consists of individuals
who are in a position to offer a cost
effective web site publishing
service.
A major issues facing all small businesses is the scarcity of time and appropriate
resources needed to develop and maintain an effective web site. When was the last
time you prepared your own Tax Return? If you're like most small businesses it's
likely that you have someone else do it for you. It's not because you can't do it
yourself, it's usually because you'd much prefer to work on those aspects of your
business which you consider to be more productive. The problem with establishing
a web site is "who do you turn to"? The Web Site Publishers database should be
a good starting point.
Get A Web Site Quote
To further assist small business
owners in locating the services of a Web Site Publisher who can help with the development
of their web site, a special "Quotes Wanted" database has been set up. Simply enter your
request for what you'd like to achieve and wait for someone to contact you with details
on what they can do for you. This database
is actually promoted within the Web Site Publishers network so you don't have to worry about dealing with
any expensive design or internet 'experts'.
Sample Sites
An excellent way to establish content and design ideas for your own web site is by
looking at what others have done. In the not too distant future, we will set up a
database containing sites which are considered great examples of how a small business
site should 'look and feel'. In the meantime, if you happen to find a great small
business web site which you feel is worthy of further investigation by others, please
feel free to send us
the URL (Web Address). They will be placed here for others to see.
